The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

happy fourth of july!
july is, by far, the best month EVER.  not only does it have the coolest name (nothing beats "july"), but july in practicly synonymous with "summer vacation".  and besides, my brithday is this month!

at church this morning, we had a bit of an honouring of veterans shindig.  and almost all the men who stood up were clad in their respective dress corps clothes.  it made me cry, but for whatever reason, im extremely empathetic when it comes to veterans.  its really just not something i can fathom.

today is the last day to load up a stockpile of firecrackers.  last year, *MatthewWarlick and i everyday would drive by this fireworks megabooth thing, and wed say "well stop tomorrow."  and we never did.  and we suffered the rest of the summer with no trepidation of blowing our hands off.  blast you, firework laws!!!  if i forget, i sure hope he remembers...

AND ive finally started using the scraps section!  i do enjoy uploading things there.  so im going to try to upload something everyday for a few days.  but consistancy, in such things, has never been a strong suit of mine.

i want to marry a cowboy.

one of my best friends in highschool was from canada. she told us tales of milk in a bag, and brought us peach gum everytime she came back from visiting. and sweet mother of pearl, the gum was DIVINE.
